Written by Robin in Grade ten, but had different verses about outer space and Himalayan expeditions. Played in one of Robin's earlier band Sherpa (with him on the bass), under the title "Magnificent Pop Album". The girl on the Quoi de Neuf cover really liked it so he decided to resurrect it with more satirical lyrics - and for the record, it's all in good nature and pretty much self effacing. Interestingly, the girl who liked it appeared in videos for both "RSVP" and this song!
lyrics
Heard you say you wanted to write a magnificent pop album, catchy hooks and noted guest vocalists. Rave reviews from the hipster critics in the indie circle. Big in Japan.
Most of the time you'll seem alive,
You'll be okay once your head's above the tide.
Heard you say you only wanted to wear Designer Levis tighter than the grip of a boa constrictor. Ray-Banned shades even when it's dark out? Malnourished pout.
Once in a while you'll change your style,
Grow out your hair over your eyes
Part at one side.
I need some aspirin, make my head stop hurting.
